The location of the hotel was perfect. It was right in the center of town, close to lots of really good restaurants, shops, places to do yoga, and the beach (we went to playa Carmen). Note the property is up a steep mountain and requires an ATV or car to get up (you can’t walk up easily at all). We rented an ATV for the duration of our stay and it was fun and necessary. It’s actually the best way to get around town. The hotel has a great view of the ocean and you can see the sunset every night from your balcony. The staff is friendly and accommodating and you can reach them through WhatsApp for whatever you need. The room was a good size and surprisingly had a full kitchen. The shower had good pressure. The AC unit was strong and very necessary because Santa Theresa gets very hot. There is a television in the room that has Netflix and there is free WiFi.
Overall we had a great, easy, safe, and clean stay. It is important to us to feel clean and cool after a full day out and about at the beach.

Americanized beach town. Crowded waters to surf.
Americanized beach town. Crowded waters to surf. Really bad infrastructure, roads are bad, no sidewalks and caos in traffic.
The beach itself is very beautiful and the waves are nice. Just the vibe is either you love it or you hate it.

Santa Teresa for us was a completely disastrous in terms of development. I cannot even imagine anyone wanting to live there. The scenery once you get beyond the mishmash of stores 3 centimeters from the really poor roads is wonderful. It is a surfer place and nothing more. I would not ever go back for any reason

Santa Teresa has the most beautiful beach.
Santa Teresa has the most beautiful beach. There are so many places to eat that have great food. Santa Teresa does not feel as crowded as some other beaches in Costa Rica, and I honestly feel very safe there. I would highly recommmend this place.

The property is amazing.
The property is amazing. The pool is super cute, the rooms are spacious and modern.
BUT the Beach Club/Restaurant charged us for things we didn’t order. We will always pay for everything we eat and drink but when things are added on our bills that we didn’t consume, we regretfully are super bitter. The hotel is looking into it and said they will get back to us. They have t yet.
Also, they advocate that they are an adult only hotel but there were kids at the restaurant and at pool.

Wooden shacks with corrugated metal roofs along a dusty dirt road. Restaurants use camping-style kitchens and where they get their groceries with absolutely no decent food market within at least two hours driving is their secret. There is absolutely no sewage system anywhere. Everyone just has a whole in the ground they call ‘septic system’. Just steps from the beach !! Would be interesting to have the water quality tested..

Lovely.
Lovely. Beautiful beach with soft sand, wonderful sunsets, great waves, a lot of nature.
A bit too many people (lots of surfers) and cars in some parts, but great offer in terms of cafes, restaurants, yoga and surf lessons.

I had a super moment with my wife. I'm very grateful. The location was epic with stunning views all over. The balcony with the jungle view, the balcony with the ocean view. We thought that the access was going to be harder but with our Rav4 rental car we made it with no problem, and actually, it is a few minutes from the center of Santa Teresa!
Before we booked we saw a review saying that the images didn't reflect reality... well.. we agree, they don't do! the reality is much better :)
We had such a lovely one week stay at Lucero, where we stayed in the secluded jungle apartment. It was super quiet, stylish, clean, great breakfast, nice pool area, perfect location nearby lots of restaurants and grocery store + close to the beach and surf! We got extremely well taken care of by the lovely concierge Gala, who did everything in her power to make sure our stay was excellent. Can truly recommend this place for anyone visiting Santa Teresa!
ICO is my favourite hostel that I have ever stayed at. The people that work there really go over and beyond to make sure you are welcomed, and have everything you need. Best hostel in Santa Teresa and the dorm beds are big, and comfortable. I stayed on the top bunk and really enjoyed it. The room was very spacious, clean, cool with A\C and large ensuite bathroom with shower. The open air kitchen & hammocks are perfect place to meet people and hang out.
Thank you! Coco Bungo has upgraded my experience in Santa Teresa so much which made me fall in love with it! The location is absolutely gorgeous, North Santa Teresa is the gem of the place. We were just a few steps from the beach and also Rocamar which is a great spot for food & drinks. The room was designed so beautifully and the staff was so friendly and helpful. Waking up hugged by a beautiful vegetation was a total treat. Highly recommended!
We loved everything. A boutique hotel on the side of the mountain in the forest. Getting up in the morning into the forest and the birds chirping. The rooms are amazingly designed, spacious and beautiful. Comfortable beds and a special shower. A fully equipped and useful kitchen and we loved the balcony with a swing bed hanging from the ceiling. The hotel has a great pool and a large jacuzzi. The staff helped with everything.
Lovely and very helpful hosts. Lovely little details around the hotel and very comfortable hammocks which are perfect for a little chill out. Room was clean and comes with an own fridge which was amazing.
Playa Carmen is 500m from Cocobolo which was amazing! Also great location next to several restaurants (such as The Bakery!) and the only atm around Santa Teresa.
New hotel. New amenities. Basically on the beach. We really enjoyed the pool and the community areas in the hotel. I read a lot of comments about the staff and it’s correct. They made us feel like family from the time we arrived. Just an amazing small hotel! next time we return to Santa Teresa we will definitely stay here again.
The place is so beautiful and peaceful. The tents are in the middle of the forest, there are amazing trees and plants surrounding them and the view from the pool is astonishing. Breakfast is very good. Is is very near to one of the few amazing beach bars, and out of the more noisy and crowded area of Santa Teresa.
Host was very welcoming and helpful. Location is perfect, really close to the main road of Santa Teresa and the beach is also only a 5-10 minute walk away.
Upstairs bed was super comfy and the room was very spacious. Although we didn’t use it, the pool was an added bonus. Secure, gated parking also available.
Location is very good, away from santa Teresa, and 5 min walk to the beach. Clean place, very comfy bed, facilities in the room to make your own breakfast. The owner is very very friendly and helpful with tips for food and where to go. Swimming pool is small, but all you need, we were just there for 1 night.
I would say that it is a bang for your buck in Santa Teresa: great location, good breakfast, comfortable room, and an awesome pool to chill out after a day of activities. I would come back to Santa Teresa and stay there, for sure. The staff is cool and you can do much just walking around.
Super nice and clean. The staff was very helpfull with everything. Would recommend if you want a quiet and beautiful place to stay, but I also recommend renting an ATV, as the distances trough Santa Teresa Main Street is long (but close to the beach), and Taxi is really expensive here.
Highlighting the positives, the communal spaces are fantastic! The staff is friendly, and the beachfront location is ideal for surfers and those who love being at the center of things. The live music in the attached restaurant during the evenings adds a delightful touch.
- a lot of plants around, you feel like in the jungle
- rather boutique hotel - so not many people around
- our appartment - spacioius, well-furnished
- view from our balcony - to the pool + "jungle"
- pool - clean, nearly all the time only for our own
