Located just 15 metres from the sea in Hydra,Hotel Sophia is housed in a restored 19-century building and offers a shared lounge, a 24-hour front desk and free WiFi access. The loveliest family run hotel. They will go out of their way to make you comfortable. For instance, we did not want to use the air conditioning. Why air-conditioning when the beautiful Hydra breeze is beyond perfect? No mosquitoes. So Nick brought us a fan which was just a perfect. Every little request was met with a smile. We had the room with a balcony looking out onto the port and could watch the daily activities. Just fantastic! And Mama’s homemade breakfasts!! Delicious! every day she cooked up something fresh and different. that’s why breakfast doesn’t begin until 830 because she is busy in the kitchen. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

The location was lovely, quiet and remote. The property was picturesque and tidy. We loved the beach area with the sun-beds and umbrellas. The restaurant was really good; the included breakfast was wonderful! The staff were friendly and very helpful, transporting our bags and making reservations for us. The private, complimentary ferry was an amazing perk. I wish we could have booked one of the tours on the larger boat, but we just didn’t have time. Next time!

Perfect location, just far away enough from the centre of town to avoid noise, but so easy to wander down in the morning. Has been so beautifully fitted out and the furniture/interiors are incredible. All the staff went above and beyond to make the stay enjoyable - no question was too small or request too large. Breakfast was one of my highlights in the little courtyard - highly recommend the home-whipped yoghurt and muesli - so good! We wil 100% be back and would not hesitate to recommend this sanctuary to anyone wanting to visit Hydra.
