I couldn't recommend this hostel more! The beds are spacious and comfy, and the common areas are amazing!

The rooms had tons of shelf room even for big bags, curtains and well constructed beds that didn't transfer motion between top and bottom bunks. The kitchen was amazing and complete. The common space had a PS4 to play around with to boot. All the bathrooms had pages from Where's Waldo books on the walls (Where's Wally in the UK.)

Clean and spacey kitchen, clean lavatories, comfortable beds. I really liked the curtains and shelves on bunk beds, gives you a feeling of your own space. A lot of storage space as well.

The location is just superb. It’s right at the beach front in the town center with lots of restaurants and shops around. Plus, you have a nice beach area in front of the hostel so it’s easy to chill out outside. I just loved it!

The location is next to the Intercity bus stop, supermarket, all kinds of cafe shops and eateries, and within walking distance to popular hikes. I loved everything about this place! The staff was friendly, the girls in my dorm were so quiet and considerate at night, my pod had sufficient space and privacy, and the rooftop was excellent for some reading and work. Bathrooms clean. The best hostel I’ve ever stayed in.

One of the highlights of my stay was undoubtedly the breathtaking views that greeted me each morning. Waking up to the sight of Lake Wakatipu shimmering in the sunlight was a true delight, and I often found myself lingering on the savoring the tranquility of the surroundings. In addition to its idyllic location, Lakeside Backpackers offers a range of amenities to enhance your stay. The communal areas are tastefully furnished, providing the perfect setting to unwind and socialize with fellow travelers. Whether you're enjoying a cup of coffee in the backyard, there's no shortage of opportunities to relax and recharge.

Wow! This property was fantastic. It had so many little amenities I didn’t even know about! A hot tub & breakfast all included in the price! What else could you want. Beds were comfy and rooms were clean. Staff were super friendly and welcoming. I will definitely be back here

Room is big and the bed is very comfortable! Staff was very friendly and helped with check in even though we were very late due to flight delay and the wait for public bus. Good evacuation plans in case of fire. Many evacuation routes available depending on where you are. The door of every room is a smoke door so it is tight and heavy. 1 shower room (with toilet) and 1 toilet. Good especially if you need the toilet and 1 is occupied.
