Very nice cottage, clean and fairly quiet given the proximity of the road. Really liked the spacious deck looking over the countryside, relaxing wine and cheese spot!

Only here for one night but it was a fantastic location, close to town's city centre and was a nice walk to the local wineries. Just the basics that you need for a room but a great price for the location. The owners are lovely and always keen for a chat, would definitely stay here again. :)

Very good location for exploring Martinborough area. Lovely friendly experience with superb gourmet food - both breakfast and dinner. Very like being a welcome guest in somebody's home. The host, Rachel, very engaging and interesting - and a great source of information about the local food and wine scene. Lovely garden that also produced fresh organic ingredients for meals.

The garden suites are all ground floor and each opens out onto the garden. The Heritage suites are on the first floor all open onto a long wrap around communal balcony. Pretty, beautiful decor and lovely staff

Martinborough is the jewel in the crown of the Deep South of the North Island of NZ. It is a beautiful quaint rural town which is ideal to visit if you want a peaceful retreat amongst vineyards, wineries, fabulous restaurants and a thriving cafe culture.
I highly recommend visits to Cape Palliser Lighthouse and Seal Colony followed by Lake Ferry then back to Nga Waka for wine tasting and superb pizza lunch.
Nara Cafe is the go-too for coffee full stop.
A stay at the Wine Shed polishes the experience perfectly.
We'll be back!

Unfortunately the hotel did not meet expectations. The floor slooped badly in the bedroom and we both experienced a sense of dizzy spells. We both snubbed our toes on the uneven floor between the bedroom and bathroom. We considered the bath dangerious as it was slipperly and no hand rails. Staff were rather unfriendly. We paid what was to us a lot of money for our wedding anniversary night and didnt enjoy the hotel at all . Always wanted to stay there but would not again and would not recommend it.

The vineyards are the main attraction for going to Martinborough. There are numerous offerings and are within easy walking or biking distance of each other. Cellar door tastings are readily available at a wide variety of vineyards, from smaller family vineyards, to the more sophisticated offerings. Muirlea Rise is an example we tried of the former, and Ata Rangi for the latter. Both were really good in their very distinct offerings. Poppies Vineyard is a really good lunch option. Martinborough's weather is typically really good - that's partly why the vineyards are there.

You need to go to Poppies Winery, book a wine tasting!
You need to go to Poppies Winery, book a wine tasting! Not only is the wine delicious but the service is superb. You get to learn heaps about how wine is make, the decisions made by the wine maker and what makes of the wine from Poppies special.
HIGHLY recommend Tirohana Estate. We were well looked after when we went for a wine tasting by a lovely gentleman who made the experience very special. He had great charisma and was passionate about wine, we learnt lots!
We went to little square pizza for dinner and they looked after us very well, and provided the MOST divine range of pizzas. Everyone was happy, and they also cater for Vegans too!
We found ourselves in a modern, artistic and well organized home that was near to other houses and yet quite private. It had every facility you could wish. The handy location - only 15 minutes walk into the Martinborough town square - was a bonus as it was possible to go out to dinner without having to worry about drinking and driving. We also loved the nearby private pool and tennis court, both of which were very well maintained.
The motel is located in the heart of Martinborough township. It looked a bit tired from the outside and we were nervous about whether it would be good to stay at. But it had 'hidden depths' and was surprisingly comfortable, clean and spacious. I'd really recommend it (as long as you're not seeking 5 star accommodation and aren't bothered by '80s decor). The bed was big and comfortable and the unit was very quiet and roomy.
A really lovely property. Very high-end facilities . We could happily live in the cottage we were allocated!
The staff were friendly and helpful. Food at the on site bistro was great too . Martinborough itself is a pretty, well maintained town with all the necessary bars, bistro's , bakeries and boutiques to satisfy its customers. We wished we had stayed longer .
We loved the quiet location, but also the fact it was only a 10 minute walk into the main town square. having access to bikes made travelling around the vineyards very easy. The breakfast provisions were excellent and the hosts were extremely hospitable and helpful with advice and taking us to the bus stop at the end of our trip.
Perfect place for a stay in Martinborough. Excellent heating for the cooler nights and the living areas catch the sun in the day, Five minutes walk to the town square and a short drive or easy walk (for us) to the many of the vineyards. Could not fault the cleanliness and all amenities are there for a short or longer stay.
The semi rural location, but walking distance just outside of Martinborough township, set alongside the vineyards, was a peaceful and tranquil setting. Check in arrangements were very simple. We arrived after the office had closed, but the key collection arrangements were easy to follow. Each villa was very spacious.
We decided to splurge and pay more than we normally do for a luxury stay at the Pinot Villas. We absolutely loved our room -- comfortable and luxurious, well-equipped kitchen and facilities. The location was perfect in the center of Martinborough. Although there is no one onsite, the check in procedure was simple.
The accommodation was quite comfortable and spanking clean. Also, it was really quiet and calm. Our host Sharon was awesome, she patiently answered all our questions and made us feel at home. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to come back. Thanks Sharon for everything!
Such fantastic rooms, lovely outlook. Very close to our favourite vineyard. We ate at the restaurant one night, which was a lovely meal. So easy to have a lovely breakfast provided on site. Pool looked fantastic, but unfortunately we couldn't use it due to covid restrictions.
Location was excellent, within walking distance of the main eateries and shops.
Quiet neighbourhood was very appealing.
Used Martinborough as a central point for 3 days of viewing the surrounding townships.
The location of this house was perfect. Walking distance into Martinborough and to wineries. Secure parking. Warm with the heat pump. We didn’t use the log burner. It was everything we needed for 2 friends.
This was the only accommodation in Martinborough available for the night we wanted to stay and for that I am very grateful. Good location in the main township. Walking distance to the Square
The Walnut Tree House was the cutest place to stay! Had the most lovely decor and was so central to town. Would recommend this to absolutely anyone asking for Martinborough accommodation.
A very warm welcome. Rachel was the consummate hostess. Wish we had stayed longer than one night as the Martinborough Fair was being held. First Saturday of February and March annually.
Easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. Comfortable accommodation with plenty of room. Really good value . Pleased that I was able to bring my dog as well. Such a bonus
Great location close to town and cafes/restaurants and also within easy walking/cycling distance of several wineries. Comfortable, good-sized accommodation for 1 or 2 people.
Lovely little motel room with kitchen and living downstairs and bedroom upstairs. Fast easy contact less checkin. About a minute drive into Martinborough town square.
