Positive: Skyrail and historic train, nature, pool in Cairns, boardwalk, Botanical Gardens (absolute highlight!!!). Don't miss Emerald Creek Ice Creamery - lots of varieties and very yummy! Dundee's restaurant offered outstanding food and an incredible venue with a massive fish tank to look at while dining, it's pricey, but worth it. The Daintree is as exciting as ever. Solar Whisper Croc Cruise was really good. Daytrip to Atherton Tablelands was lovely. Rusty's market is a must! Only downside of Cairns: dining is fairly expensive in general.

We went at the start of the dry season.
We went at the start of the dry season. The weather was very warm but still humid.
Cairns central has great public facilities.
The swimming lagoon is fantastic for all ages and has surf lifesavers in attendance. BBQ cookers all along the Esplanade, excellent playgrounds.
Muddy Waters in particular, the kids went crazy.
Of course you go for the reef trips and the train trip and the Skyrail up to Kuranda village. A lovely day out in beautiful rainforest.
Port Douglas and Mossman are a drive north if you have the time, they are another must see in this scenic part of north Queensland.
A drive up onto the Tablelands opens up a different part of the area. Natural and historical attractions. It's worth the drive.

A worn and sadly lacking site.
A worn and sadly lacking site. It has all the hallmarks of investors who rake in the money but don't spend any money or maintenance and improvements. They could raise their star rating if they cared to invest in renovation., The lady at the front desk was very friendly;y. What a shame she has to represent such a sad venue.

The environment in general is the thing I liked the most.

There is little opportunity to interact with people outside of those in our circle of the delegation, including the hosts and those slotted in the program, during that trip. I would like to see more people to people interaction.

Excellent location.
Excellent location. You may not need a rented car if you stay in the central location. We stayed here for 5 days. Went to Great Barrier Reef, Green Island, Used the sky rail to go to Kurandra and came back by Scenic Rail. Snorkling at both Green Island and Great Barrier Reef was too good.
Spotlessly clean and comfortable accommodation in a great location. It is located just a few minutes walk along the boardwalk from the restaurants, swimming lagoon and other activities in central Cairns. It is not as upmarket as some of the other Cairns hotels but it is excellent value for money and would be great for a family holiday as it has apartments with kitchen facilities and is just across the road from a childrens playground and water play area and a cafe. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.
A tropical style, well positioned and well maintained neat hotel located in prime position in Cairns within 5 min walking distance to the Esplanade, bustling restaurants and bars. Magnificent sea views from our room. Couldn’t have been happier with our upgrade to a top floor sea facing ocean front room! Loved the layout! And the walk in shower. Thank you to the staff who were always smiling, helpful and willing to give you free cookies every time my husband visited the reception desk.
The Abbott Boutique Hotel was so nice we stayed there twice -- for a couple nights before a dive trip and again after we returned to Cairns. Peter and his team are fantastic and friendly, and the hotel is perfectly located to explore Cairns without even needing a car. On arrival we received a room upgrade and it was so spacious, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend this place, it is really a gem in the heart of Cairns.
The unit is centrally located, walking distance to woolies in the cbd, plenty of cafes nearby for coffee and meals. Having the boardwalk right in front encouraged me to explore the esplanade - something I didn’t do when I lived in Cairns.
The unit has all the basics for a stay of a few days.
Having the pool area to cool off each day was great, the bbq area was clean and useful for our family bbq.
I really did appreciate the late checkout - Ben was very accommodating.
The hotel is terrific. The room was lovely. The layout was chic and modern, and cool. The bed was very comfortable. The facilities were great and the staff were very friendly and professional. The little balcony gave good views of the sea, the esplanade and Cairns, and those views were superb from the 9th floor! It's a uniquely furnished/finished hotel that pleases the eye. Parking was easy and undercover.
The rooms are amazing- really big bed, big walk in rain shower, smart TV, very modern as a whole. It’s a 10 minute walk to the Esplanade and there’s lots of great restaurants around there and nearby. It’s a 10 minute taxi ride from the airport. We really loved our stay here and wished it were longer!
There’s also a small pool within the hotel.
The hotel is centrally located and allows you to easily get to most of the main attractions in Cairns city. The rooms were very comfortable and Matt was excellent and responsive to our needs. This is not a resort hotel with all the facilities of such but it is value for money with great rooms and located such that you can access everything.
Fantastic location right on the Cairns waterfront with delicious breakfast from the Cafe over the road. Easy walking distance to many restaurants for dinner. Beautiful, spacious, well furnished apartments with locked garage parking for our hire car. Loved sitting on the balcony, cooling off in the pool and going for walks on the Esplanade.
Location was excellent and walking distance to beautiful Cairns esplanade and city. Very quiet resort with beautiful pool and bbq facilities. The one bedroom apartment had everything that you would need, nicely decorated and beautiful comfortable bed.Staff were great and very friendly and accommodating with all our needs.
Enjoyed our stay at this very comfortable & cute property. Photos are accurate and bed is soft. Instructions to access property were clear. Location is good - short drive to town and airport. The basic breakfast they left in the fridge was a very nice bonus too! Perfect stopover for our one night in Cairns.
The room and bathroom was very clean. It was so humid and hot outside. The inside was perfect. The hotel location is very convenient it is easy walking distance to everywhere. But I believe most hotels in Cairns are like this. We requested a room in the highest floor and they obliged. So grateful.
Location of the hotel was good for checking out Cairns. It was also close to the Marina where boats leave for Great Barrier Reef Trips. The breakfast included in our rate was also good. The room itself was comfortable and the outside patio was nice to sit out on and watch the sunset.
Good Value.
Perfect for an overnight-er in Cairns to attend a function.
A simple Hotel room that was very clean, Secure, with a fantastic shower (A decent shower with good water pressure is a box I like to be ticked)...
Great location.... a short walk to the Esplanade.
very well located for the airport, city centre and attractions, we didn’t bother hiring a car because of this. Room was very clean as was the rest of the hotel, pools were great, gardens well well maintained. I would thoroughly recommend VIsion for a stay in Cairns.
Great hotel with comfortable beds and modern look of the rooms.
It’s just a bit far from esplanade, but apart from that it’s perfect.
Also, there are lot of car rental companies around this hotel. So you can just rent and explore Cairns
Absolute value for money, Clean, quiet and comfortable. It has the privacy and connivence of a hotel on a hostel budget. Host also does airport pickup/dropoff for a small fee.
The hotel itself is possible the most beautiful in Cairns with a magnificent lobby and entry. The refurbished rooms were gorgeous and the Harbour view was amazing!
