I have always wanted to see Vicksburg after learning about...
I have always wanted to see Vicksburg after learning about it's importance during the Civil War. The Ken Burns documentary covered this major battle, and how it changed the course of the war. The military park was incredible and we spent the extra money to hire a tour guide who rode with us as we drove through the park. Absolutely worth every penny! We stayed at the historic Bazsinsky House just across from the beautiful courthouse, and within walking distance of downtown and the river. I wish I had done more research ahead of time about what all there was to see, and ended up not having time to explore more of the area. We had a delicious dinner at the 10 South Rooftop Bar and Grill that overlooks the river, and saw a beautiful sunset. Went to the Civil War Museum in Downtown and had a wonderful visit with the owner. His collection is incredible, and he is so knowledgeable.

Nice town with some history and quaint antebellum houses.
Nice town with some history and quaint antebellum houses. Lovely Southern hospitality. A couple of good museums. Good music and beer at the Key City Brewery (although food not the best). If you have the time then visit ‘Under the Hill’ and especially the Cemeteries and War memorials run by the National Parks Service.

Great little town but like many towns in the US it is dead commercially.
However there is a very interesting Civil War Museum run by an individual who is a memorabilia collector. He has created a very interesting little museum packed with all sorts of weapons, equipment, clothing and documents from the Civil War era.
There are all sorts of retail outlets and eateries outside the town, but i am always dismayed that there isn't a civic support for bringing businesses back into the centre of small towns and cities.
Its the same in Lafayette LA, Chanpagne-Urbana IL and Clarksdale TS.
The town centres are dead.

The historic area we were in was extremely impoverished.
The historic area we were in was extremely impoverished. The area was filled with abandoned and run down buildings. The downtown area wasn’t bad, but everything else surrounding it was beyond terrible. We found an amazing restaurant downtown. 10 South Rooftop-it was the only highlight of our trip there.
If I could give a negative star I would customer service was rude insulted my disabled husband we checked in for 10 mins and left the property to get another room at a different hotel. The front desk was so rude and used Foul language on to her friend visiting about us. Property was dirty and smelled like Marijuana. The TV was plugged in by a orange electric cord. I can go on and on. I requested a refund still waiting to hear back from red roof inn and booking.com
Beautiful Home with a lot of history that the owner Andrew will happily tell you about at breakfast. Very large and comfy room with everything there that's needed. Conveniently located in central Vicksburg and within walking distance to restaurants and the Mississippi river. Andrew really knows the area and can provide you with lots of tips on what to do and where to eat - you cannot go wrong with these. We will definitely be back!
Usually when I see an ambulance in front of a business I take it as a bad sign. As I checked in I came to understand a guest was having some stomach distress and medical aid had been summoned. A desk clerk was comforting the patient throughout and showed genuine concern for his well being. I don't think too much about what I would do if I became ill while on a trip but if I ever do I hope I am staying in Vicksburg at the Super8.
A stunning property located in a quiet residential street just a short, pleasant walk from downtown Vicksburg. Very friendly, welcoming staff and I could swear the bed in the Fannie Suite has magical healing properties; I’d been plagued by back & shoulder pain driving and sleeping in random beds during my trip, but 1 great night’s sleep at Oak Hall cured that. Highly recommended.
I liked that BW was a "pet friendly" hotel. When traveling I prefer to take my pets. Although, there was an additional pet fee per night, it was comparable to leaving them in a kennel. The availability of breakfast and the selection was sufficient to meet the preference of many people. The hotel is conveniently located and accessible to restaurants and stores.
Ms. Britney Gray the head of housekeeping and the staff were all exceptional and very friendly. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The front desk staff is always so sweet and friendly. This is one of favorite locations to stay every time we come to Vicksburg. They are pet friendly and always so sweet to our puppy when we bring him!

The facility was excellent. The room was huge, very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was first class. Andrew was very friendly and professional. We recommend The Bazsinsky House to anyone staying in the Vicksburg area. We will stay there again!
Corey and Patricia made our stay perfect in their amazing historic mansion. Everything starting from the yummy breakfast up to the room details and tidiness made us feel welcome in Vicksburg. Absolutely recommended
What an atmosphere! A beautiful, special place in which to spend a night. Breakfast was excellent. The staff were lovely and helpful. This was a combined hotel and historical tour experience.
