Exploring Los Angeles, the place where many movies are made, you feel like you’re in a dream. Santa Monica Pier is the ending point of fabled Route 66, while just south is bohemian Venice Beach, lined by tall, swaying palms. Go slightly inland from the boardwalk to glimpse the canals that earned the area its name.
Head north to the golden beach and stunning scenery of Malibu and see why movie stars over the decades have settled here. Also popular with the rich and famous are Bel Air and Beverly Hills, home to exclusive Rodeo Drive.
And the reason for all this glitz and glamour? Hollywood, of course! Sitting high on a hill, the iconic sign is visible for miles around, while below the gold stars on Hollywood Boulevard immortalise celebrities of past and present. Be there on premiere night to see them grace the red carpet of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre.
Over the hill is Universal Studios, offering behind-the-scenes tours as well as rides. Next door are the Warner Brothers Studios, and Paramount Studios are closer to Downtown LA.
Whether you decide to live like a star in a luxury LA hotel or choose a cheap motel through Booking.com, it’s worth renting a car to get around this sprawling city and out to Los Angeles Airport (LAX).

Great places to visit - hike to Hollywood sign, helicopter ride over the city, Laguna Beach, Venice beach, Santa Monica Pier.
Not so great - expensive! Busy during rush hours, big city to get around so need a car. Difficult to find healthy food options as few and far between. Prepare to queue!

Dodgers game was an addition to our trip and we truly enjoyed it. We found people in the city to be friendly and helpful. Favorite areas to stay were Beverly Hills and Hollywood. And downtown stay at the CitizenM was perfect to catch the game.

The beauty and scenery. And the movie locations. Visit to Hollywood and a tour of the movie sights. Very welcoming city. I would definitely visit again. Probably avoid the Hotel Indigo. Had the worst experience with their staff

Santa Monica is fine. The beach.
Santa Monica is fine. The beach. The main street without cars. Good shopping and restaurants opportunities. We booked a hop-on hop off tour. One sees a lot of skyscrapers in LA but the streets are nothing special

Went there is visit family and watch Dodgers games.
Went there is visit family and watch Dodgers games. They were very accommodating as they won every game we saw (who could ask for anything more). We also went to several comedy clubs. What a great deal that is. . no fee just a request order two things (drink or food). Check out Flappers in Burbank. Note: they will charge for famous people like Jay Leno.

LA was my bucket-list destination, but it is pretty much bottom of the bucket. Honestly, I hated the city. It was dirty, crowded, the people were rude, and sadly the city needs to do more to address its homelessness crisis. Went in a couple tours, but The best part of my stay was the tour of LA’s hoods
After reading reviews you really would think this place was in a horrible area and that's far from the truth. You do have to pass by a lot..a lot of homeless people, it's Los Angeles downtown, not hollywood but once you get in the area of the hotel there a many blocks where they have kept it clean (literally power wash the side walks every morning) and are building it up. There's a convenient store right downstairs, many restaurants and shops walking distance. There's also a little shopping mall "Little Tokyo".
The hotel itself is situation just a few miles for Los Angeles centre and can be easily reached by catching the No 4 bus which stops exactly outside of the hotel. The room is quite spacious and is generally very clean including the bathroom and toilet areas. The breakfast facility is situated in the same part as the reception area looking out to the main road and in general although comfortable the breakfast could be improved..all in all though this hotel is quite sufficient.
I got there and had a free early check-in. The staff helped me a lot with my luggage at the end of my stay as well. There was always water available for everyone. Everything was clean. I couldn't use the pool and wasn't able to get some drinks at the restaurant but it looked very fancy. There's always free shuttles to the Airport. The hotel is near everything. What's not to love?
I totally recommend it and will always be my first option when staying in Los Angeles
Nice hotel in a central location near the Grove. The accommodations meets the standards you would except for a hotel at this cost. Friendly staff and happy to keep our bags on day of check out. There is a pool and lounge chairs to relax in the common area. There is also a valet service at the hotel. Would definitely stay again when back in LA and looking to be close to the Grove, Melrose Ave, West Hollywood and the Beverly Centre.
Excellent location for walking on the Venice beach boardwalk. Pretty much in the middle of the pier and marina del rey, we could walk to both.
Decent food and drink options nearby. The hotel is clean with a nice rooftop. Good vibes.
There is parking right next to the hotel for an additional $45 per day and night. Not the cheapest you can find in the area and very conveniently located right next to the hotel.
from A-Z I absolutely hated this place!! not recommended at all!! I booked the king size bed room, no carpets, no smart tv, no coffee maker and no microwave in the room, no sofa or table to eat on, the whole hotel and outside areas smelled horribly bad and weedy!! the bedding was really cheap quickly, no iron for clothes, no closet in the room, no mirror in room,
I was so disappointed with this place!!!
This is not the best hotel I ever stayed in, but it's great value for money! It's as cheap as a motel 6, but has decent services, it's impeccably clean and friendly staff.
It's a historic building, 100 yrs old, so it's not like a chain hotel, but it was comfortable enough, and it has a lot of charm.
The street facing rooms have views to the Hollywood sign, and the area is very clean and safe to walk.
Check in was easy - we called ahead regarding parking and the desk clerk was more than helpful in recommending the cheapest nearby overnight parking garage - also, the location is a real winner for this hotel - right off of Hollywood Blvd. - I don't think there's any escaping the homelessness in California, so aside from that, this hotel is smack dab in the middle of where a tourist might want to be.
Staff are excellent and very accommodating. The hotel itself is well-located in a quiet part of K-Town, not far by car from all of the most visited areas of Los Angeles, and underground car park is very secure and well laid-out. The room itself is big enough with a good TV, a small fridge, a very nice bathroom with walk-in shower (no bathtub), and a very comfy bed. We slept very well here.
I always choose to stay at Hampton Inn for first night after long flight whenever I visit Los Angeles. It offers great value for money with its comfortable beds, cozy pillows, and cleanliness. The hotel's proximity to the airport is a major advantage, making it a convenient choice for travelers. I highly recommend this hotel for a comfortable and hassle-free stay near the airport.
Location is great if you like WeHo or Hollywood. But far from downtown though.
Newly refurbished place, spacious rooms and nice bathrooms. The little terrace is a nice add-on. Large minibar in room. Beautiful pool with large and nice outdoor area. Large garage with valet-service. Alternatively, the hotel reimbursed a part of UBeR costs.
Beautiful restaurant area.
The location was great. Even though downtown LA is overall a kind of sketchy area, the small slice of the city where the hotel is located feels relatively safe with most tourists sights downtown being walking distance. Also, the restaurant attached to the hotel is great for classic American diner food. And the lobby is well done too.
I am usually a buy the cheapest hotel I can find kind of person and although I did think it was a bit pricey, it was so worth the safety and cleanliness I felt. the staff was great, awesome location, very clean room. I think it’s the best deal you’re going to get in that area. would stay here again!
Excellent ambience, excellent staff, and the Pilot Restaurant was phenomenal, delicious and exquisitely lighted and located on the property. There was beautiful décor in the rooms with an amazing view of downtown Los Angeles. I loved everything about this hotel and I will definitely be back.
The location was excellent. Downtown Los Angeles is really coming to life and this hotel is right in the thick of the action. Hotel amenities are sleek and modern, and I appreciate the staff giving .e a helping hand on arrival...especially José.
The hotel is ok, overpriced like everything in Los Angeles but very close to Hollywood Boulevard and a few metro stations. To be honest the zone is pretty safe but all of H. Boulevard zone is a dumpster.
Hotel located in central area downtown Los Angeles. Within easy walking distance of LA Convention
Centre, Crypto.com centre and many dining establishments.
This is a great "budget" hotel near LAX. Within 1/2 hour of most destinations on west side and downtown. Reasonably modern, clean and relatively quiet.
